Highlight: John 4:39 – 42
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans had come to Him, they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. 41 And many more believed because of His own word.
42 Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed [a]the Christ, the Savior of the world.”
Explain: Jesus had healed the heart of women at the well, and she became a faith filled evangelist telling the whole village about this man Jesus. Her testimony was powerful and effective causing many heart to turn and believe in Jesus. So the Samaritans urged Jesus to stay among them where Jesus ministered to them. It says that many more believed because of his own word.
Testimonies are great and need to be shared. They should always be a reminder though that if he did something for one person, he can do for it another. We cannot live on someone else’s testimony of Jesus. We need to develop our own history of Jesus and our own story with Jesus. These believers came to a solid place of faith fully believing for themselves that Jesus is the Christ.
Apply – I want to lead people into their own authentic encounter with Jesus. We should be encouraged by the testimony of friend, but we cannot live off their testimony. We all need our own encounter with Jesus so we can say that, “I know that Jesus is the Christ. “
Respond: Lord, thank you for giving me the testimony that I know Jesus and He is the Christ. Help me lead others to that same revelation where they might own their faith. I want to lead people to discover their own revelation of Jesus.
One response to “Day 4 – John 4”
Lord, I want a fresh and relevant testimony on my lips so that others would want to know the Jesus I know.
